Two-day Kintsugi workshop
Thursday 3 & Friday 4 June 2026

Picture
2-DAY SHORT COURSE - Thursday 3 & Friday 4 June 2026: KINTSUGI (Golden Joinery)
Kintsugi - also known as Kintsukuroi - celebrates a repair by using 24ct gold, making the repaired piece more beautiful than it was before it was broken.
The repaired piece can then be proudly displayed once again. Its journey is highlighted by the gold covering the join.
This short course will demonstrate a modern method of Kintsugi and can be used for decorative items.
You will be using 24ct gold and other materials to repair a ceramic piece. On the first day a broken ceramic piece will be provided for you to practice. On the second day you may wish to work on your own project. If you have a broken cherished piece, please bring it along. If you don't have a piece to bring, you can select something from a local charity shop or use a piece from the studio.
You will be provided with some gold leaf, but if your project is a larger one, more gold leaf can be purchased from your tutor. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own supply of transfer gold leaf. Please contact me for advice on suppliers and the exact type of leaf that is needed.
All other materials and tools are included.
This Kintsugi short course is a great opportunity to learn how to repair cherished ceramic pieces which have been accidentally broken.
10:00 - 16:00 (2 consecutive days) - Thursday 3 & Friday 4 June 2026. £235

Picture
3-DAY SHORT COURSE - Thursday 18 Jun / Friday 19 Jun / Saturday 20 Jun 2026 - FILIGREE: LEARN/PRACTISE THIS ANCIENT SKILL
Filigree is an ancient technique, which has been practised for over 5000 years.
This three-day short-course will guide you in the practical aspects of working with fine twisted wire threads in your choice of gold or silver to create beautiful filigree pieces.
We will focus on the contemporary application of this wonderful technique and you will learn how to prepare the wire threads, how to create different types of filigree designs and how to apply this to your jewellery pieces.
You will be provided with silver wire and the use of tools and you will make your own tool (for you to keep) to help you with the technique.
After practising with the provided shapes and wire, you will design your own filigree piece.
This course does not assume prior knowledge of jewellery making so is suitable both for beginners and for those who wish to extend their jewellery skills to include filigree.
Try not to miss this opportunity of learning a fantastic new skill.
