The interplay of light and shadow, created by crossing lines and repetition, creates an optical effect which becomes apparent when the object or an element of it, is moved or when the viewing position changes in relation to the object.
My current work is based on the form and texture in feathers and feather-like forms found in nature. I have rearranged and translated these lines and spines into abstract metal versions of the originals. |
My most recent work introduces movement within the jewellery itself, inviting the wearer to connect with the piece in different ways. This makes it possible to control and play with the optical effects and creates a tactile, reassuring feeling of familiarity.
I am currently working mainly with silver and other metals, but occasionally use other materials, depending on the design. |
I teach jewellery-making to small groups and individuals in Guildford, Woking, Camberley and Farnham.
I completed a one-year residency at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, Surrey at the end of September 2017.
